Octave

A campaign that turns inbound cold emails into demos

Turned the cold sales emails his head of sales receives into an automated campaign where the sender's own pitch becomes the demo

  1. The problem

Octave's head of sales gets outbound pitches from other companies. Nalin's read is that most of them go to the wrong person: he puts Octave being the sender's ideal customer at under 5% of cases, and blames the poor targeting on a lack of context.

  2. What they built

A campaign the team named Prometheus. When a cold email arrives, it checks whether Octave is the sender's ideal customer, builds the sender a full Octave workspace with personas and playbooks, and writes the email they should have sent. If Octave is a fit, the reply is "here's how you should have pitched me." If not, it is "you emailed the wrong person, here's who to target instead and how." Qualified contacts at the sender's company are then enrolled in an email and LinkedIn sequence that shares the rewrite and, near the end, says the whole thing was automated.

  3. So what

Cold pitches from good-fit companies become outbound to those companies, and the prospect's own email becomes the demo. If they book, their demo workspace is already built.

Under the hood

For GTM engineers

An incoming email to the head of sales triggers the workflow. It screens whether the email is an outbound pitch, then runs the sender's company through an Octave qualifier agent. For qualified companies it programmatically creates a separate Octave workspace, runs a second qualifier to decide between "we fit, but you pitched us badly" and "wrong ICP", and calls agents in that workspace to write the better message. Octave's Prospector agent finds contacts at the sender's company who match a buyer persona, each is qualified again, Octave sequence agents write email and LinkedIn steps, and contacts are enriched and enrolled in a live campaign.
