The problem
Modal's GTM data runs through one pipeline that loads, enriches, matches, qualifies and segments accounts, then pushes the results back to other tools. That pipeline was effectively a black box. After nine months of adding more data sources, more business logic and more automations, Chris thought the system and team were pretty close to buckling under their own weight.
-
What they built
A console for the GTM data platform. It shows how data flows through each step, where records drop off and how that trends, plus interactive documentation, the health of each source, a way to look up and QA individual records, and easy updates as the underlying schema and code change.
-
What changed
Chris says the team now has a holistic view that lets them align their mental models, measure performance and troubleshoot quickly as the team grows, and that it has made it much easier to sleep at night.
-
So what
The data that decides which accounts get worked is no longer a black box. When something looks off, the team can see where records dropped and why, instead of guessing.
Under the hood
For GTM engineers
The GTM data platform is a single pipeline on Modal, Snowflake and dbt: load, enrich, entity resolution, qualification and segmentation, then reverse ETL. The console sits on top and covers data flow, drop-off and trends, interactive documentation, source data health status, QA and object lookup, and updating as schema and code drift.
